Terms and Conditions

  • CONTRACT

A bridal contract and wedding invoice outlining the booked services, associated fees, and final balance owing to Karen Anne Makeup (K A Makeup) will be issued once the wedding is confirmed. This agreement, inclusive of all terms and conditions, becomes legally binding upon receipt of the booking fee.

    BOOKINGS

To secure the wedding date, a booking fee of $300 is required. Booking fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Booked wedding dates are confirmed upon receipt of the booking fee. In the event of a wedding date change, booking fees cannot be transferred to another date without written approval from K A Makeup and date availability. Changes to the contract such as an increase in services or a change in timing may require booking a hair or makeup assistant (fees apply).

    BOOKING TIMES

A start and end time will be agreed upon by the client and K A Makeup. Each makeup application requires 45 mins to 1 hour and the wedding day timeline should be organised accordingly. Bridal hair styling requires 30 – 45 minutes depending on the intricacy of the look. Any last-minute services will only be performed at the discretion of the makeup artist (MUA) or hair stylist.

All bridal party members must be present and ready at their allocated time to ensure the agreed schedule is maintained. K A Makeup is not responsible for delays caused by late arrivals, changes to the agreed schedule, or bridal party members not being ready at their allocated time. Any delays may result in reduced service time or incomplete services, with no refunds provided.

    DOUBLE BOOKINGS

In the event of competing booking requests, bookings are confirmed in the order that a completed booking and booking fee are received, without bias or preference

    BRIDAL TRIALS

Bridal trials are essential to discuss and create the wedding look before the wedding day. A bridal makeup trial can take up to 2 hours and the trial fee is due on the day. After the trial, your makeup artist will contact you to enquire how the makeup lasted and if there are any changes for the wedding day. If a bridal makeup trial is not completed prior to the wedding day, K A Makeup accepts no liability for any dissatisfaction with the makeup on or after the wedding day.

    PAYMENT / FEES

The final balance for bridal hair and makeup is due 30 days prior to the wedding date. Full payment is required no later than 30 days prior to the wedding date. Failure to pay the final balance by the due date may result in cancellation of services, with the booking fee forfeited. Any services provided on a public holiday or a Sunday will incur a 10% surcharge. For any early weddings, a $75 fee per hour will apply for start times before 7am.

The client is deemed the individual who booked services with K A Makeup. The client is solely responsible for full payment of the wedding invoice. K A Makeup reserves the right to withhold services where payment has not been received in full by the due date. No refunds will be provided for completed services, dissatisfaction based on personal preference, or change of mind.

    TRAVEL / PARKING FEES

Travel is provided for weddings on the wedding day and the cost of travel is included in the wedding invoice. Travel fees start from $50 and are calculated based on location and travel time. Additional costs may include transport, accommodation, airfare, or parking fees where applicable. Long distance travel will incur a fee of $100 per hour of driving. Please notify K A Makeup of any location changes as soon as possible as this may incur additional travel fees or early start charges.

    CANCELLATION POLICY

K A Makeup reserves the right to terminate this contract for any non-compliance of terms and conditions. Cancellations made within 30 days of the wedding date, including postponements or date changes, require payment of the full outstanding balance.

In the event K A Makeup is unable to perform the booked services due to illness, accident, or circumstances beyond the Artist’s control, a replacement artist of similar experience will be arranged where possible. If a replacement cannot be secured, liability is limited to a refund of payments made, excluding trial fees.

    FORCE MAJEURE

K A Makeup accepts no liability for failure to perform services due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, extreme weather, government restrictions, accidents, or emergencies. In such cases, liability is limited to a refund of payments made, excluding completed trial services.

    REQUIREMENTS / ARTIST EQUIPMENT

The location of wedding prep is at the discretion of the client; however certain amenities are required for the Artists to complete their work. To maintain professional service standards, the preparation location must provide adequate space, natural lighting, and power access. The MUA and hair stylist will provide all products and tools needed to complete the booked services. The client is responsible for any damage to or loss of equipment caused by guests, children, or bridal party members during the service period. K A Makeup is not responsible for unsafe working conditions or inadequate space, lighting, or power access that impacts service delivery.

    HAIR STYLING

To ensure a refined and seamless styling experience, all hair clients must arrive with clean, completely dry hair that is free from product build-up and ready for styling. Hair that is wet, damp, excessively oily, or coated in heavy styling products may compromise the final result and timing.

Clients requiring clip-in hair extensions must have them supplied on the day, clean, dry, and ready for use. Extensions should be 100% human hair and colour-matched in advance.

Children and flower girls must be able to sit independently for the duration of their service. For safety and efficiency, hair styling cannot be performed while a child is seated on an adult’s lap.

The hairstylist reserves the right to decline service in the presence of head lice or nits, or where hair is excessively damaged and unsuitable for heat styling tools. In such cases, the service will be deemed complete.

    MAKEUP APPLICATIONS

All makeup clients must arrive with clean, makeup-free skin, including the removal of all eye and face makeup, to allow for optimal product application and longevity. Clients are encouraged to maintain a consistent skincare routine in the weeks leading up to the wedding, avoiding new or invasive treatments within 7 days of the event.

Bridesmaids and additional makeup clients must be present, ready, and prepared at their allocated service time. If a client is unavailable, the artist will proceed to the next scheduled client. Missed services will only be completed at the end of the schedule if time permits, and cannot be guaranteed.

The makeup artist reserves the right to decline service if a client presents with severely compromised skin conditions where makeup application may be unsuitable or unsafe. In such cases, the service will be considered fulfilled.

    LIABILITY

All brushes, tools and makeup products are kept sanitary and are sanitised between applications. Any skin conditions or allergies should be reported to the makeup artist prior to application and, if need be, a skin reaction test will be performed. All clients agree to release K A Makeup and all artists working for K A Makeup from liability for any skin complications due to allergic reactions. K A Makeup accepts no liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from the provision of services

    AUTHORITY

The bride / client is the sole decision-maker regarding hair and makeup styles on the wedding day. Should a bridal party member demand a style that the bride does not approve of, K A Makeup has the right to refuse application / service. K A Makeup reserves the right to decline service to any individual who behaves in an aggressive, inappropriate, or unsafe manner.

    SATISFACTION GUARANTEED

At all times, the Artist will endeavour to complete all hair and makeup to the bride’s satisfaction. On the wedding day, makeup will be applied in a way to ensure that it lasts as long as possible; however, some factors such as high humidity or rain can cause makeup to shift. It is the client’s responsibility to apply translucent powder throughout the day and reapply any lip products to ensure makeup longevity. K A Makeup is not responsible for makeup or hair longevity affected by weather conditions, excessive perspiration, or environmental factors outside the Artist’s control. Satisfaction is assessed at the time-of-service completion.

    COVID – 19 / ILLNESS

If a bride or bridal party member is unwell or experiencing flu-like symptoms, K A Makeup reserves the right to refuse service to that individual. Any cancellations due to illness are subject to the cancellation policy.

    PHOTOGRAPHS / SOCIAL MEDIA

The client accepts and acknowledges that the makeup artist or hair stylist may use photographs from the wedding trial or wedding day for promotional purposes or on social media. K A Makeup is not responsible for how hair or makeup appears in photography, videography, or under harsh lighting conditions. This consent applies unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to the wedding date. All imagery is selected and shared with discretion and professional consideration.

    DEPOSITS / PAYMENTS

To secure the appointment a small deposit is requested. All booking fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. For single / event bookings a 50% fee is required per service. The booking fee will be deducted from the total cost of services provided on the day. Please be advised, the date will only be reserved once the deposit is received. For studio bookings, final payment is made on the day by cash or card. All card payments incur a 2.2% fee in accordance with Square payment fees.

    TIMING

Appointments at the Karen Anne Makeup studio are booked back-to-back on Fridays and Saturdays. Please be on time for your appointment! Each makeup application requires 1 hour and hair appointments take an additional 45 minutes to 1 hour. The length of your appointment is noted on your confirmation email. Any start times before 7 am will incur an early morning fee.

    TRAVEL

Makeup applications for balls or events are performed at the studio in Mount Claremont. Travel to a client can be arranged if 4 or more makeup applications are booked. A minimum charge of $600 applies if less than 4 applications are booked and travel is still requested. Travel fees start from $50 and are calculated by travel time.

    CANCELLATION POLICY

All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. If a client cancels an appointment, they forego their deposit. Rescheduling of an appointment more than 48hrs before the booking is allowed if there is availability. Please note: bookings can only be rescheduled once - after that the deposit is lost.

In the event an Artist is unable to complete the booked service as a result of sickness, accident, or any reason beyond the Artist's control, a replacement artist of similar experience will be provided. If the Artist is unable to find a replacement makeup artist, the deposit will be fully refunded.
